How the money moves
When a coin launches with or joins Backstop, its dev signs one fee split with their own wallet. pump.fun's own program then pays every creator fee of that coin as follows:
- 50 % straight to the dev's own wallet. pump.fun pays it; Backstop has no key to that wallet and never receives this money.
- 40 % to the coin's market maker. It is Backstop's own capital: it trades only that coin, keeps its own profit and loss, and pays nothing out to the dev or anyone else.
- 5 % to the platform wallet, which runs Backstop.
- 5 % to the burn vault, which buys $BACKSTOP and burns it.
Backstop never holds a dev's money. It takes no deposits and no starting capital, keeps no balances for anyone and makes no payouts to devs. pump.fun locks a coin's fee split after its first change, so joining is permanent.
Risks
Memecoins are highly speculative and can lose all of their value in minutes. A market maker cannot stop that. It buys part of some sells and sells part of its position into rises; it can lose money, and it does not hold a price. Backstop promises no price, no profit and no return, for any coin and for $BACKSTOP. Nothing on this site is investment, financial, legal or tax advice. Check the laws that apply to you before you launch, add or trade a coin.
Backstop is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed or run by pump.fun, PumpSwap, Solana or Jupiter. Their names describe which network, programs and routes it uses; they belong to their owners.
Privacy
Hosting. The site runs on Vercel Inc. To deliver pages and keep them secure, Vercel processes your IP address and request details in short-lived logs. Fonts are served from our own domain. We use no cookies, no analytics and no advertising trackers.
Your wallet. You connect your wallet in your own browser; we never receive a private key or a seed phrase. Your browser remembers the name of the wallet you last used (local storage), so you need not choose it again; you can clear it in your browser at any time.
Coins. For each coin that launches with or joins Backstop we store its address, name, ticker, picture, the dev's wallet address, its settings and its market maker's trades, to provide the service. We store them with Upstash, Inc. and show them publicly, because they are on the public blockchain anyway. Anything written to the blockchain cannot be deleted by us or anyone else.
Your rights. You can ask what we store about your wallet and ask us to correct or delete it, except what is on the blockchain. Write to us on X at @trybackstopapp.
Terms of use
The service. Backstop is software and a public market maker for pump.fun coins. Launching and adding are free; Backstop is paid only through its share of the coin's creator fees described above. You sign every transaction with your own wallet and are responsible for your coin, its description and its promotion.
The market maker. We run each coin's market maker with the published preset. We may pause or stop it, for example after a failed trade, when a coin's fee shares are changed, when a coin is used for fraud, or when the law requires it. A stopped market maker changes nothing about the dev's 50 %, which pump.fun keeps paying to the dev's wallet.
Availability. We aim to keep Backstop running but cannot promise it always will. Blockchains, RPC providers and pump.fun can be slow or unavailable.
No warranty. Backstop is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent the law allows, Backstop is not liable for indirect, incidental or consequential damages, or for any loss from trading, market making, pump.fun, Solana or a wallet.
